Hello! My name is Peter Kalmar and I am a student a Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pennsylvania.
No, I'm not some sort of child prodigy when it comes to programming. However, I did start programming quite a long time ago. It dawned on me that I might enjoy doing it for a living in high school as I was creating games on my TI-83 Plus calculator. Since then I've been developing my skills so that I can make an help make cooler games that people will enjoy.
While I've been programming since high school, I've been making games since I was twelve. At that time I was introduced to a piece of software called GameMaker. This is where I learned the basics of logical programming and how objects interact with each other on the screen. I even made my own little Super Smash Brothers clone. Needless to say, games have been a heavy influence on my life and my relationships.
Currently I am majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Game Development. I have gathered experience in just about every aspect of the game development process by helping other students as well as making my own games. Currently I am producing my own game for Android and the web that I plan to publish later this year (2015).
I am also a self-taught artist and I have been making 2D art for individual students’ games here on campus for more than a year. I do what I can to help students who know how to make a great games but can’t provide the art to make them look good.
As for my hobbies, I love to draw, mod game consoles, fabricate armor and weapons from fiberglass, play trumpet, and I occasionally solve a Rubik's Cube. I'm also an avid Super Smash Brothers Melee player.
This is a site is for my blog posts on video game analysis and a portfolio of work that I have so far.
